Spooky Night Glow

Today I'm sharing another Halloween card I created for the curent challenge at Your Next Stamp Sketch and Color Challenge #24. I combined both the sketch & the colors and came up with this -

Sadly, I do not have any Your Next Stamp stamps in my collection. Hard to believe and need to rectify that soon! I used an older stamp on this card; Stampendous Crowscape. First I created the background by blending Wilted Violet, Chipped Sapphire and Hickory Smoke Distress Inks onto a Neenah CS panel. The stamp was added using Ranger Archival Jet Black Ink. I adhered that to a piece of purple CS that had been die cut with SSS Stitched Rectangles and finally onto a black card base. I rather like the glow made by the new Wilted Violet DI around the haunted house and the graveyard.

I am also entering this card into Simply Create Too # 96 - Halloween Colors and Inkspirational Challenge # 93 - word prompt - Glow.

Edited to add - I'm also adding this to the challenge at Fusion: All Hallow's Eve. (Thanks to my friend Sandie (from) London Days for the heads up.) I can also add this to the photo challenge at Time Out Challenge # 42! This card can also be entered into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Color Challenge using Stampendous stamps.

Birthday Balloons

I'm back with  a CAS birthday card I made for CAS(E) this Sketch # 144 and The Paper Players #266 challenges.

Here's the current sketch by N@ Ali at CAS(E) this Sketch # 144 -

I chose a small balloon stamp from the Technique Tuesday Turn 29 set for my repeat stamping. The balloons were stamped in red, yellow and green inks, which are the colors for the color challenge at The Paper Players: #266 by Jaydee this week. The sentiment is from the SSS Balloon Sentiments stamp and dies set.

The stamped panel was die cut with Mama Elephant Femme Frames and adhered to a red card base. Like I said very CAS, quick & easy.

The Hop to Stop

I have made a card for the link up party at The Hop to Stop over at The Damsel of Distressed Blog by Becca Cruger. It's a hop to share awareness of Domestic Violence, something near and dear to my heart.

Purple is the color of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which is October. 1 in every 3 women will experience domestic violence over the course of their lifetime. That's 33% of all women. Women are not the only ones affected - women, men, transgender, it doesn't matter. Domestic Violence exists regardless of gender, education, religion, or socioeconomic status. Sadly, it's something a lot of us don't talk about. This hop is all about papercrafters bringing awareness to Domestic Violence.

To begin I stamped the sentiment from Dyan Reaveley Quintessential Quotes in Ranger Archival Deep Purple Ink onto Ranger Watercolor Paper. I choose archival ink because I knew I was going to add watercoloring for my background and archival ink is permanent. 

I used the newest distress ink by Tim Holtz, Wilted Violet, to create the background. The ink was smooshed onto my carft mat and spritzed with water.  Then I dragged the watercolor paper through the ink on my mat and dried it with my heat tool. Once the panel was dry, I smooshed it in the ink again and let it drip around to create another layer of color. Once dry, I blotted the panel into the ink to create some splatters. Love the end result. It resembles crying and tears to me, something any DV survivor knows too well. 

The panel was die cut with SSS Stitched Rectangles and then was split using Mama Elephant Landscape Trio die cuts. The pieces were then adhered to a top-folding Neenah card base. I added some Pretty Pink Posh Sequins to finish off my card.

The sentiment I chose for my card says it all. Every survivor of any type of abuse needs to hear these words repeatedly.

Thanks So Very Much

I'm back with a card I made today. I made this for the Less is More challenge, which is a one layer Autumn card this week.

For this card, I used the Hero Arts Painted Maple Leaf stamp. I colored directly onto the stamp with some distress markers; Spiced Marmalade, Barn Door and Fossilized Amber. After scribbling on the stamp, I spritzed it with some water and stamped onto a top-folding Neenah card base. I love how this technique makes the leaf look watercolored. The sentiment is from Reverse Confetti Lots to Say set.

I will also enter this into The Male Room Challenge #20: Autumn and Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Autumn is in the Air.

How Wonderful Life Is

Happy Thursday! Today I'm back with another card I made with a Color Burst background. I really love these and used the red, orange and yellow from the Brights set again. 

I knew this would be the perfect background for the card I made for the AAA Cards: Week #49: World Play challenge. I die cut the watercolored panel with SSS Stitched Rectangles, stamped it with one of the stamps from the Random Quotes set by Tim Holtz and adhered it to a card base. I love having these colored panels all made and ready to make a card from. They make quick CAS cards in no time.

There's a 3 day weekend coming up and I'm hoping to spend at least 1 of the days making cards for our local Paper Arts Club challenge and an upcoming Splitcoaststampers Get Together in early November. They're both always a fun times making cards with other card makers. Have a great Friday. Enjoy!

CASology #167 - Silly

Surprised to see me again so soon, aren't you? I had a lovely play day with my stamping buddies, Rosalie and Lorraine, on Sunday. It had been so long since we had gotten together to just play with whatever we wanted. I colored lots of my Bird Crazy birds by Tim Holtz with my Zig Real Brush Markers so I would have them on hand  to use on cards.

I love this little guy. I gave him a hat, pumpkin and broom from the Crazy Things stamp set, also by Tim Holtz. The sentiment is from Crazy Talk by - you guessed it - Tim Holtz. I adore all of these sets. They are so silly and fun. The white panel was die cut with a SSS Stitched Rectangles die and for the orange frame I used a Mama Elephant Peek a Frame die. 

I'm entering this into the current challenge at CASology: Week 167: Silly. Hope he's CAS enough. If not, I understand. He's just scared silly riding on his broom. Also, entering this into The Paper Players 265 - Halloween.

October Already!

Wow! I can't believe it's October already and I haven't posted in weeks. Sorry, but I've been so caught up with a new school year, my new Nerium Anti-Aging skincare business, a new great nephew, and on and on. Life happens.

I finally made some time over the weekend to play with my new Color Burst set. I love these! I bought Set 1 that has red, orange, yellow, blue, green and purple. They are so much fun to play with. Just wet some watercolor paper, add a puff of the powder & watch the colors burst onto the paper. You will never achieve the same look twice.

After cutting the watercolor color paper to A2 card size, I used SSS Stitched Rectangles and Mama Elephant Peek a Frame die cuts to die cut the pieces. Next the stitched die cut pieces were adhered to a Neenah card base. Sentiments from SSS Big Scripty Greetings were added. I used sequins from Pretty Pink Posh, my favorite sequins ever!

Aren't those watercolored backgrounds gorgeous? I admit I was a little heavy handed with the purple, but it was my first play with them. Now I need all the other sets, of course!
