Pinky Promise

Hello. It's hard to believe that it's the last day of March already. Hopefully, April will be a much better month for me, with no injuries or illnesses.

Today I made a card for a dear friend who suffered a major injury last week. I'm hoping my card will cheer her up a bit.

I grabbed the Mama Elephant Honey Bunny and True Friend stamp sets from a recent release. I just love all of Mama Elephant's products! Here's the card I made casing one that DT member Elena created for the release.

Those cute little bunnies are so sweet. I hope they bring a smile to my wonderful friend's face when she sees them. I adore that sentiment from the True Friend set. There are also several other great sentiments in the set.

That's all for today. I sure hope I can get back into my regular crafting routine. I've really missed it.

Easter Pop-Up Box Card

Hello. I hope I'm finally getting my mojo back after my recent fall. Crafting has taken a back seat for a couple weeks, but I think it's time to get back into creating mode and start making Easter cards.

I love the pop-up cards that I first saw on this Splitcoaststampers Tutorial by Dina Kowal. Dina has added dimensions to the original tutorial to make an A2 size card, and I am growing addicted to making these. Here is my first one for Easter using fabulous Cheery Lynn dies and Graphic 45 paper. (Bet that was a surprise!)

I kept this one simple, only adding four die cuts. I used the Lace Egg 5 over a distress painted background, the small Happy and small Easter word dies, and this butterfly. I used pop dots to adhere the egg, and the other dies are adhered to acrylic strips to raise them up. Graphic 45's Sweet Sentiments was used to cover the flaps around the top of the card.

These cards fold flat to an A2 size and pop open to reveal the sweet embellishments inside. Choosing how to embellish these is so much fun. Just think of all the occasions they can be made for - holidays, birthdays, graduations, anything you would want to celebrate.

I'm also taking the Clean and Simple 3 Online Card Class, so I will be sharing some of what I've leaned from that soon.

Thanks for visiting and happy crafting!

CAS Birthday Card

I'm slowly recovering from my fall on the ice about 10 days ago. My sprained foot is much better, but my ankle is still very painful. The orthopedist I saw Friday gave me an ankle brace, and it's feeling better wearing that.

I really haven't had the energy to craft very much since I fell. Just getting through the work day takes up most of my energy. I did make a CAS birthday card for a very special young man who had a birthday party yesterday.

I used A Muse inks to stamp an older SU balloon stamp onto Neenah paper. The strings from the balloons are actually from the Simon Says Stamp Handwritten Borders set. The sentiment was created with the discontinued Fresh Squeezed Stamps Take a Number set. Mama Elephant's Dainty Bow Creative Cuts die was used to "tie" the balloon strings together. For some added interest, I punched a few stars in coordinating card stock colors and created a cascade of them on the card. I matted the panel on yellow card and added it to a card base. Quick and simple.

Hopefully, I'll get back into crafting mode this week. There are a few challenges I wanted to enter, but I may not be able to. The new Clean & Simple One Layer Cards 3 starts tomorrow at Online Card Classes, and that should jump start my mojo.

Couture Z-Flap Mini Album

Today I'm sharing a mini album that I created a couple of weeks ago. (Due to a fall Thursday on an icy sidewalk that resulted in a sprained foot, I haven't been able to craft these last few days at all.)

I used Graphic 45's Couture  collection to make my mini. Love that collection! Of course, I love anything G45! I found a YouTube by the amazingly talented  Laura Denison of Following the Paper Trail for her Z-Flap Album here and decided to use that for my mini. It's unlike any I have made before, lots of flaps and pockets.

I used a cut-apart with one of my favorite Coco Chanel quotes on the cover. A peacock feather, a piece of netting and one of the pieces from the pockets and tags were also added to the cover.

There are 6 pockets and 12 flaps in this design. The flaps form a "Z" shape around the pockets. I used black card for the pockets and album foundation and cream card for the flaps.  The pieces were then covered with mats made from the Couture papers.

I chose not to cover the inside of my flaps. Instead I added various stamps to each one, leaving the remainder free for journaling.

Each of the pockets has a 4x6 tag, for photos and/or additional journaling. There is a lot of real estate in this mini and I really like this quick, easy design.

You can see one of the chipboard pieces with another Coco Chanel quote that I added to my back inside cover, peeking out from under this last page. I love all of the designs in this paper collection, and used many of them in my mini.

There is a workshop scheduled at Creative You & Co. this month to make this mini. A list of our March classes can be found here

I hope you enjoyed my newest mini album. I love making them. Thanks for visiting and happy crafting!
