Christmas Poinsettia

Happy Friday! Today I have another Christmas card to share.

I finally used my WPlus9 Pretty Poinsettias stamp set that I bought last year - or maybe the year before. It's a multi-layered poinsettia set and I love it! I've only used 2 layers on this card. For both the petals and the leaves, I've used the stamp and the vein stamp. I stamped with SSS Hot Lips and Hero Arts Field Green. The ink needs to be completely dry on one layer before you add the next layer or it will not be darker on the next layer. The pollen was added with The same green ink and Mustard Seed distress ink.

The sentiment is from the Penny Black Christmas Cheer stamp set. I love the different fonts in this sentiment set. I die cut the panel with a SSS stitched rectangle die, added it to green CS and adhered it to the card base.

I am just squeaking this in to the Happy Little Stampers October Christmas Challenge where a poinsettia needs to be featured. Also I will join in at Time Out #43 for their Christmas challenge without the twist. I am also entering Addicted to Stamps & More where the theme is Holiday.

Tomorrow morning I'll be off to a feis bright and early to watch my Irish princess compete. Then in the evening it will be trick or treating time. I hope you have a great Halloween. Enjoy!

Less is More Week 247

Hello. We're almost to the weekend! Today I have a card to enter into Less is More Week 247. It's similar to yesterday's card.

The LIM challenge this week is a sketch challenge.  I used a Great Impressions stamp and again I colored directly onto the stamp with Distress Markers. The colors I used were Peeled Paint, Festive Berries and Ground Espresso. Deciding to stay with less is more, I chose not to color the ornaments. Now I have another very CAS, very quick card for my stash.

Tomorrow being the last day of school before Halloween, will mean it's a wild day in school, but maybe by Monday the sugar highs will have subsided. At least we can hope!

On Saturday morning the Irish princess will be competing in another Feis. Then, of course, Saturday evening will be trick or treating for all my little ones. I can't wait to take pictures of all their costumes. Have a great day! Enjoy!

CAS(E) this Sketch #146

Happy Wednesday! Today's card is for this week's CAS(E) this Sketch #146.

I've followed the sketch and made a one layer card using SSS Holly Berries designed by Clearly Besotted. I used Distress Markers in Festive Berries, Pine Needles and Ground Espresso to color directly onto the stamps. Then I "huffed" on the stamps (another very technical stamping term) to reactivate the inks and stamped onto a white card base. Another Christmas card to add to the stash. This would be an ideal card to mail during the holidays - flat, therefore no extra postage.

Be sure to check out the gallery as well as the cards by the DT at CAS(E) this Sketch. There are so many lovely ones. Enjoy!

Something Wicked

Hello. How's your week going? The weather is beginning to turn cold here in central NY, the leaves have turned to their glorious autumn colors and are falling. Only a few days until Halloween and I have more more card to share.

I went super CAS for this card. The stamps are all various older wooden stamps from my stash. The green stitched frames were still sitting on my table from my last Halloween cards. I just stamped the images onto a white card base, added the frames and I was done. Super CAS, for sure.

I am entering this into these chllenges:
Addicted to CAS #75 - Spooky
AAA Cards Game #51 - Halloween All Styles
Shopping Our Stash #225 - Go Paperless (no pattern paper)

Here's to a great rest of the week. Enjoy!

Glitter Ornament

Ok, where did the weekend go? The work week never seems to pass as quickly as the weekend, does it? Before we know it, Santa will be here. Time to get more Christmas cards made, so today I have one to share that my friend, Rosalie, showed me how to make.

I love this glittered ornament! It looks elegant, yet it's easy to make. I die cut white CS with a SSS stitched rectangle die and then a circle die. Then I adhered heavy duty packing tape to the back of the white CS, sticky side up. I added fine glitter to the sticky packing tape and really pressed it in with my finger. A snippet of pattern paper was added to red CS and the white CS was adhered over that. The panel was adhered to a card base and a ribbon hanger was added to the ornament. I added a sentiment and the card was finished.

It may sound difficult, but it really isn't. Imagine all the different ornaments you could make by changing the pp and color scheme. I think a few of these packaged together would make lovely gifts.

I'm entering this into Pixie's Snippets Playground Week 200. I'm so thrilled that Di chose this card I made as one of last week's picks. Thanks, Di!

That's all for today. Have a great last week of October. Wait! Can it really be the end of October? I need to go buy candy for the trick or treaters. Enjoy!

Zombies!

I hope everyone had a great Saturday! Today I have a couple of cards featuring zombies to share. Zombies seem to be the rage these days. However, having not watched television (other than the morning news) in over 20 years, I have only heard of The Walking Dead from what seems like everyone I know. A lot!

The images are from SugarPea Designs Undying Love stamp set. I heat embossed them in black on watercolor paper and then watercolored with Zig Real Color Markers. The images were then fussy cut, adhered to white and green CS that had been die cut with SSS Stitched Rectangles, and added to a  card base. The sentiments are from the same stamp set. Aren't they cute and fun?

Card #1 will be entered into:
     CASology #169 - Zombie
Addicted to Stamps #167 - Make Your Mark
     SugarPea Designs Monthly Challenge #21

I am entering Card #2 into:
     Freshly Made Sketches #209
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Monster Mash
     Inkspirational #94 - Cute Halloween
     The Male Room # 21 - Halloween

I hope you liked these. They were sure fun to make. Have a lovely Sunday. Enjoy!

Oh, wow! I just noticed that this was my 200th blog post. That seems crazy to me. Thanks for spending time with me. I so appreciate all of you. Mwah!

Happy Friday!

Hooray! It's Friday! Two full days to do whatever I want ... after cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, laundry, grocery shopping... then maybe a card or two will get made. Why aren't weekends 3 days long?

Sorry for the awful picture, but I wanted to finish this last night so I could post it today in some challenges before they close. I made this with Time Out Challenges #42 photo challenge in mind. The image is an older Inkadinkado wooden stamp that doesn't have a name on it. I simply stamped it in black and colored with an orange marker. The sentiment is from Sweet 'n Sassy's Keep in Touch, Too stamp set. I love the sentiments in this set. There are so many great ones. I then adhered the panel to black and orange CS, and added it near the bottom of a top folding card base. I was inspired by the colors, stripes and pumpkins in the Time Out photo -

I am also entering this into these challenges -

Curtain Call Challenge - Pretty Pumpkins
AAA Cards: Game #50 -  CAS Halloween

Have a great weekend, even if it is too short! Enjoy!

Grateful for You

I'm back with another CAS card today. This one is for The Paper Players CAS Challenge #267 - Leaves.

I created the leaves from the Tim Holtz Tattered Leaves Bigz die. One leaf was die cut from pattern paper, sprayed with Perfect Pearls and crumpled. The middle leaf was die cut from a piece of embossed and ink distressed paper. The third leaf was die cut from a piece of paper that had been stamped with a text stamp, distress inked and crumpled. I love the dimension you achieve by crumpling and then flattening paper back out, don't you?

The leaves were then tied together with May Arts Natural Twine. Again I used the Fun Stampers Journey Ink Splat stamp in the middle of a kraft card base. I adhered the leaves over the ink splat and added some pearl dots to further embellish the splatter effect.

I am also entering this card into Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Wrap It Up and Pixie's Snippets Playground #199. All of my leaves began as snippets of paper.

Only 1 more day until the weekend. I can't wait! Enjoy!

Addicted to CAS

Yes, I have become addicted to CAS! Clean and simple cards were always so hard for me to make. I'm more of a many layers, distressed, ribbon, and bows vintage loving card maker. Don't get me wrong, I still prefer those cards, but I'm loving CAS cards these days. Here's what I made for Addicted to CAS Challenge #74 , where the code word is "Sparkle".

The stamp is Technique Junkies The Right Shoes that I purchased at the Rubber Stamp Show held locally back in May. (Another NBUS, Darnell! Hint, hint.) After stamping in black, I colored with a Wink of Stella Glitter Red pen and added Wink of Stella Clear Glitter over that for extra sparkle. The panel was cut with SSS Stitched Rectangles and adhered to DCWV Red Foil. Then that was adhered to a card base and some Pretty Pink Posh Sequins were added with Multi Matte

Here's a close up showing the sparkly shoes -

Gotta love Marilyn Monroe, but do not think for one second that I can wear those 'right shoes' anymore. Sadly, those days are long gone.

Now I'm off to conquer the world in flats. Hope you had a great day and your tomorrow is even better. Enjoy!

More Christmas Cards

Today I'm squeezing a couple of cards in under the wire at some challenges.

My first card is for Just Add Ink # 284 - Fancy Fold. I made a side step folded card and added paper to each section. Once again, I used a Tim Holtz Crazy Bird and adorned him with the Santa hat from Tim Holtz Crazy Things. Both the bird and hat were watercolored and I added glitter to the hat. The tiny sentiment stamp is from AMuse Studio. Buttons and twine embellish the third section.

My second card is for Tag You're It Challenge # 32. The inspiration is this tag created by Kelly Szafron -

I was inspired to use the same shape tag as Kelly did with ribbon and a single image. My tag is the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Duo 1 die cut tag. The holly is Penny Black Holly Berries die and the poinsettia is SSS Poinsettia Parade die. Some pearls were added to the die cuts, as well as a piece of ribbon that was attached with the Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher. I embossed the card base with a dot embossing folder and added my tag with foam.

I am also adding this card into the Happy Little Stampers October Christmas Challenge - Poinsettia.

Now I have a couple more Christmas cards to add to my stash. Have you started yours yet? Have a great week. Enjoy!

CAS Happy Birthday

Happy Monday! Just popping in with a very CAS card I made in like 5 minutes for Seize the Birthday, where the toppings option is "Splatter" and Less is More #246 - Masculine.

This is a one layer card on which I used a NBUS stamp. Darnell - did you hear me? Yep, another one! (Lots more, too!) The stamp is Ink Splat from Fun Stampers Journey. My friend, Lorraine Padden, is a coach for FSJ, so if you want to order, check her site out! I used AMuse Studio Bermuda ink to stamp the ink splat 3 times on my Neenah card base. I then stamped SSS Big Scripty Greetings in AMuse Studio Ocean ink. My friend, Lyn Bernatovich of Lyn's Paper Petunia, is an AMuse consultant, so you know where to get AMuse products now, too. (Shameless with the plugs today, aren't I?)

I wasn't kidding when I told you it was very CAS. Now I've been asked to make a card for a colleague who got married on her birthday. I do not have a NBUS Happy Birthiversary stamp so I'll need to perform some surgery for this one.

Have a great rest of the week. Enjoy!

You're How Old?

Sadly, I didn't make it to the pumpkin patch with my chidren and grandchildren today. It was frigid outside and I'm still not over this respiratory illness, so I stayed home. I don't remember the last time all of us were together at the same time. So it was Crazy Birds to the rescue!

I am in love with Tim Holtz Bird Crazy stamps and all the accesories that go with them. I watercolored this guy with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens and a waterbrush. After being cut out, I added Glossy Accents to his eyes. The panel is another piece of the watercolor paper leftover from my playday with Ken Oliver Color Bursts Brights. The watercolor panel was added to a purple card base and some strips of CS were added on the left side. I die cut a speech bubble and added a sentiment from the Tim Holtz Crazy Talk set. Those sentiments are hysterical and go so well with the birds. The bird and speech bubble were adhered with foam.

I followed the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches #208 by Cindy H. and will be entering this into that challenge. Also, I would like to enter it in Just Us Girls Color Week # 315 where this week's colors are black, purple and orange.  I will also add this to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Wonderful Watercolor.

I hope everyone has a lovely week. Enjoy!

Merry Christmas

It had to happen sooner or later. Can't put off the Christmas cards any longer or I won't have any. Can it really be less than 10 weeks away?

I made a shaker card for the challenge at Shopping Our Stash, which is 'I Can See Clearly' and to use acetate on our cards, Of course. acetate means shaker to me. I love them. I die cut Neenah CS with SSS Stitched Rectangles and a Lifestyle Crafts Circles die to create a piece that looks like an ornament. After adhering acetate to the opening, I cut a piece of fun foam and adhered to the back over the acetate.

Next I added some Pretty Pink Posh Classic Christmas sequins along with other sequins from my stash into the open area. The panel was then adhered to a card base and a piece of ribbon from my stash was added as a hanger. The sentiment is from Hero Arts Merry Christmas Meassage stamp set and was stamped with SSS Hot Lips ink.

I am also entering this into Addicted to Stamps Challenge # 166 - Anything Goes.

This card was cased from one that my friend, Rosalie, taught me how to make. I'll be sharing that one soon.

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend. Enjoy!

Heart you

After seeing the current challenges at CASology: Week 168: You and CAS(E) this Sketch: # 145, I decided to create a card for both of them.

Of course, I reached for my Winnie & Walter Big Bold You stamp set. I love the Big Bold series of stamps from W&W. You can create any sentiment you want with them. I stamped the 'you' in rainbow colors on my panel. Admittedly, I forgot the blue ink when inking my sentiment. Rather than pitching the piece into the recycle bin, I decided to add my die cut heart in blue. The die cut I used is one of the hearts in the Wplus9 Stackers Hearts set.

The panel was die cut with the largest rectangle from SSS Stitched Rectangles (yes, I use these all the time!) and adhered to a blue card base. I then added the die cut heart with foam and my card was finished.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Enjoy!

Spooky Night Glow

Today I'm sharing another Halloween card I created for the curent challenge at Your Next Stamp Sketch and Color Challenge #24. I combined both the sketch & the colors and came up with this -

Sadly, I do not have any Your Next Stamp stamps in my collection. Hard to believe and need to rectify that soon! I used an older stamp on this card; Stampendous Crowscape. First I created the background by blending Wilted VioletChipped Sapphire and Hickory Smoke Distress Inks onto a Neenah CS panel. The stamp was added using Ranger Archival Jet Black Ink. I adhered that to a piece of purple CS that had been die cut with SSS Stitched Rectangles and finally onto a black card base. I rather like the glow made by the new Wilted Violet DI around the haunted house and the graveyard.

I am also entering this card into Simply Create Too # 96 - Halloween Colors and Inkspirational Challenge # 93 - word prompt - Glow.

Edited to add - I'm also adding this to the challenge at Fusion: All Hallow's Eve. (Thanks to my friend Sandie (from) London Days for the heads up.) I can also add this to the photo challenge at Time Out Challenge # 42! This card can also be entered into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Color Challenge using Stampendous stamps.

I hope you like my card and are all having a great week. I'm home sick today with some respiratory infection, no doubt caught at the germ factory (AKA elementary school). Love the kiddos, but the germs are unstoppable. Happy Thursday! Enjoy!
